Places to Stay
You will find the charming Hilltop Cottage a short drive from the R571, just west of Lauragh.
This traditional, organic farmhouse, built of stone around 1890, has recently been completely restored. It occupies a quiet, secluded and elevated coastal location over Collorus Harbour and Kenmare Bay.
This home- from- home has stunning views across Kenmare Bay, looking north to Iveragh and the MacGillycuddy Reeks.
Hilltop is situated at the approximate half way point between Kenmare to the east (30 mins.) and Castletownbere (20 mins.) to the west, a great point to start your exploration of Beara.
You can be supplied with Hilltop organic fresh eggs, surplus vegetables and herbs, preserves and home baking.
The house has all modern comforts (central heating, deep bath tub, shower room). The kitchen is fully equiped.
The guests have a patio facing the sea, a flower and herb garden, a built-in barbecue. It is friendly for toddlers. This is an organic farm where the owner grows flowers, herbs, veg and keeps hens.
Smoking is allowed on the patio. All front windows have a sea and mountain view. You can enjoy the spectacular sea views while cooking, dining, sitting by the fire, in bed or even lying in the bath!
Enjoy sundowners with the late setting sun from the terrace or be warm and cosy inside with the wood burning stove if the weather turns wild.
It is a perfect romantic retreat with ever changing sea and hill views.
The seashore and beach for safe swimming are 200 metres away.
The Beara Way runs parallel to the house.
Hilltop Cottage is located on the Wild Atlantic Way and is well reviewd on TripAdvisor (cottage by the sea, over harbour and Kenmare Bay) and Airbnb (Coastal Cottage, Collorus Harbour)
